👋 Hey there! I’m Alexis. I write about life, creativity, being a freelance writer, and everything in between. If you enjoy corny humor and cute cat pictures with a splash of advice (and maybe personal essays), you’ll probably fit in around here.
Hey everyone!
If you’re new here, WELCOME! I’m grateful you clicked “Subscribe” and I can’t wait to learn more about you!
In the meantime, some of you mentioned in the comments of this post that you would like to read personal essays from me. I’m uncomfortable writing about my feelings, thoughts, and personal experiences, but I would like to push myself. I even signed up for a writing course taught by
to learn more about this kind of writing.A few weeks ago, I had one of those low-energy, sluggish days that I’m sure you’re all familiar with. So I ditched work, opened my laptop, and wrote what came to mind. I tightened it up a bit because at one point I was complaining about what it’s like being a woman and having a menstrual cycle — I’ll save that one for another day!
I hope you enjoy it and I can’t wait to meet you in the comments!
Take care,
Alexis
Can we normalize being lazy?
Today is one of those days where I cannot seem to focus or give two fucks about work, but also, work is not that busy right now and for some reason, I’m struggling to lean into enjoying the downtime. There’s a nagging feeling that I should be doing more instead of relaxing on my balcony reading a book (btw, I just finished Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell — highly recommend it! And now I’m flying through Big Magic by
).
