Creative After Hours is a candid and exploratory newsletter where I take off my professional freelance content writer hat to dive into the world of personal essays and humor pieces. With no prior experience in these genres, this is an experiment with new styles and ideas in the quiet hours outside of work. While I’ll occasionally give you a glimpse into my freelance writing career, this is mainly a space for unfiltered thoughts, playful experimentation, and perhaps a few confessions, all shared with the hope that no one I know from real life stumbles upon it. Who are you anyway?
I’m a nobody who has written loads of things like blog articles, guides, case studies, email newsletters, and more for tech companies like Shopify (and a few you’ve probably never heard of).
But that’s not what this Substack is about. Here, you’ll see another (more personal) side of me. I wish I had something more catchy to say here, but I’m not ready to define this project yet. I hope you’ll join me on the journey.
Here are a few fun facts about me:
My favorite color is green.
I have loads of houseplants.
I’m half Dutch and half American.
I don’t actually own a cat. I like them but don’t want the responsibility.
I was a tomboy growing up and had a tail haircut (and didn’t wear a shirt at the beach until it became inappropriate).
Some people close to me might call me bossy, but I don’t know what they’re talking about.
