That's a great victory! I want to start Crossfit. I keep saying it and not doing it because I'm busy working on my pro padel career. But this was a good reminder! Thank you. :)
1 cool, a writing coach. maybe I ought to explore this - I've been doing some similar writing and have submitted some for publication, but whenever I've asked people for feedback they're like 'oh sure,' and then never get back to me :(
2 I commented on the bagel post before - I'm jealous, but now I'm on a mission to find Vienna's best bagel, which could be fun :)
3 brownies not from the box? well done, i'm proud of you! for a long time, the American in me would ask me parents to bring me brownie mix from the US and my friends would make fun of me, especially in Ukraine where most people make everything from scratch (funny story: many Ukrainians don't believe me when I tell them in the US, and western Europe, you can buy cans of soup in supermarkets. a friend of mine just visited and was shocked, and she took so many pictures of Campbell's!)
My joy: I'm going to Dublin in a couple days for a friend's surprise 40th birthday celebrations, it'll be four fun days of all sorts of shenanigans!
I've only submitted one so far! It was rejected. But I didn't ask why. Let me know about your Vienna bagel hunt! No, the brownies were from the box! :) I've found decent brownie mix here in Amsterdam. Not sure if it's good or dangerous? haha
Making from scratch is obviously way better, but I love a good can of Campbell's chicken noodle soup!
Your joy sounds fun! Don't do anything I wouldn't do.
Hey, guess what - I've just had a lovely rejection letter for one of my submissions. They offered the generic 'we had a lot of great entries/it was competitive/nice story but...'
Oh well. Will try to pitch it to a few other places.
I have to confess that I'm really bad at taking initiative and seeking out these opportunities. I'm also a procrastinator - who isn't? - and keep meaning to try to submit more. You might also know Lucy from rumblewrites, I checked out her October submissions post and there were two that caught my eye - Lunate rejected me and I've also submitted to Shooter. They pay peanuts but I just wanted to try something smaller.
The submissions thing is tough, but you'll get there. So much competition.
Not sure I can say the same about the box brownies! I've managed to make decent brownies from scratch, but here's my confession: I struggle to make proper American style fluffy pancakes and sometimes cheat with a mix. There's a decent one I found here. Shame on me, I know.
As for my upcoming Dublin joy, I'm not sure what you wouldn't do, but I'll err on the side of caution and be as reckless and foolhardy as possible and deal with the consequences later! π
I love this prompt and the way it gets us thinking about the good stuff. For me the weather is pure joy right now. The clear fall light, the colors in the foliage that is still hanging in there and the mild temps that make it perfect dog walking. Goo luck on those bagels. It's a worthy mission!
I'm glad it had that effect on you because that was my mission! Mainly for myself, but also for anyone reading! Sounds like the perfect day, weather wise. Leaves are yellow here in Amsterdam too and it's so pretty watching them fall near the canals. :)
those chairs are going to turn out beautiful! love that design. The bagel looks yum too - been a while since I had a good bagel. I'm kind of hungry now.
Thanks, Sophie! Iβm excited about the chair. It has been a fun and relaxing project so far. Nice to do things off the screen! I hope you satisfied your hunger. π
1; 2; 3; 4 & 5 are all the same for me:-
Surviving yet another Crossfit session without collapsing into a gelatinous heap of broken manhood π€¦π»ββοΈπππππ

Keep on going! Where did you submit to? Just curious. π
