HOW?

please share. And let us know

Hi Edward,

I wish I knew! I'm not sure if it was the picture of Amsterdam that people loved or if it was because the text was short or if it was because of the day and time. It's hard to know exactly why. I wouldn't overthink it and just experiment with different types of notes at different times of the day/week. Hope this is somewhat helpful!

Gotcha. Thanks for letting me know

What I don’t understand is why people subscribe to my Substack, even show enthusiasm for something I have written or the name of my Substack, but then it transpires that they already subscribe to 450 others. Are they REALLY going to read mine and, if not, why subscribe? Do people spend all day doing nothing but reading Substacks?

All good questions! I sometimes wonder the same. I have a handful that I read regularly. And the rest, occasionally. Can only consume so much!

I agree. I do the same.

How about a mix of everything? I find that it gets monotonous sometimes.

It’s looking like that’s what I’ll do! ;)

I've seen this viral comment before a few times but what does that mean exactly?? Can someine define viral for this newcomer please??

I was under the impression the goal was quality over quantity on Substack? Of course, admittedly, I love BOTH. ❤️

Come see my tiny STACK. I think you'll like it.

Good question. I guess I considered it viral because there was a lot of engagement and it more than doubled my subscriber growth in days. I have yet to see how engagement will be and agree with quality over quantity. So I’m hoping I can build on this first and I’m not currently pushing hard for new subscribers. I want to first see what types of posts my current subscribers enjoy the most.

Oh, wow, no wonder that photo went viral - it's STUNNING!

I'd love to hear more about life as a freelance writer! What sort of projects you work on, that sort of thing :)

Thanks, Susannah! I will definitely share more about freelancing as that seems to be a common interest among my subscribers. Stay tuned!

I think I will like 2. Sounds like fun lol! The idea of a creative writing prompt for people to try out different writing styles sounds interesting and something I think I’d like to try out.

Thanks for sharing, Dolamu! I think I will continue with the creative writing prompts, so stay tuned!

Do you think we are early on substack notes and it will be big like Twitter one day?

Expand full comment

Hi, Pierre! Tbh, I don’t have an answer to that question because I haven’t spent much time on Twitter. I have an account, but I never go into it. Wdyt?
